Wilderness Adventures in Alaska

InnerSeas un-cruise

InnerSeas un-cruise

Imagine yourself exploring Glacier Bay National Park for three days alongside a National Park Ranger, while they provide detailed information on local history, culture, geography, flora and fauna.

InnerSea Discoveries is offering Alaskan Wilderness Voyages on their small expedition ships or “un-cruises”. What is an un-cruise? “It is an experience. It is where active and curious travelers get close to both water and land. Specifically, the un-cruises come to life through free-moving exploration unimpeded by restrictive port calls. The building blocks of an un-cruise are low draft vessels, small groups, expert and plentiful crew, the ability to hike where others cannot, the frequent use of top-quality adventure equipment-kayaks, paddle boards, and skiffs. The un-cruise blends a sophisticated selection of go-at-your-own pace activities, with casual dress, fun and education” (InnerSea Discoveries).

The new Northern Passages & Glacier Bay itinerary sails from Juneau to Sitka (or reverse) on Saturdays and offers three days exploring Glacier Bay National Park. The park ranger, along with shipboard expedition guides lead guests on hiking, and kayaking expeditions. The Wilderness Explorer Northern Passages & Glacier Bay itinerary can be combined with their Eastern or Western Coves itinerary for a two-week adventure or with the two-week Ultimate Adventure roundtrip Juneau itinerary for an all-encompassing three-week voyage.

An underwater camera mounted on the ship’s bow streams video from the underwater world to flat screen TVs in all guest rooms, and the lounge.
